NFL stars Jonathan Babineaux and John Sullivan will be visiting London on Thursday March 27, for ‘A Night in the Trenches’ an linemen focused event.
The event is part of the NFL’s media drive to increase the profile of the sport in the UK, in advance of the potential establishment of a permanent franchise in the UK.
A major part of the growth of the sport in the UK is ensuring that player development is emphasised, and young fans are encouraged to consider taking up the sport. Until British players are a major feature in the league, the sport will always be viewed as an import, and this strongly affects its influence.
The event seeks to give fans a taste of what it is really like to be in the trenches, and intends to give fans in-depth knowledge about the intricacies of this important part of the game.
Line play is often overlooked by many fans, but offensive and defensive tackles are regularly among the highest paid, and most valued players on any NFL roster.
Babineaux will be in London again in Week 8 when his Atlanta Falcons face the Detroit Lions, one of three games to be played at Wembely this season. Sullivan last visited London in Week 4 of 2013, when his Minnesota Vikings beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in a closely fought game, which is widely considered one of the best games of the International Series thus far.
The event takes place at the Mermaid Conference Centre, at 8:00 PM on March 27th.
Tickets are free of charge, and available by random draw.
